Jessica & Ed’s Intimate White Mountains Wedding in Intervale, New Hampshire

There are weddings that feel like a big production, and then there are weddings that feel like exactly the people getting married wanted them to feel.

Jessica and Ed’s intimate wedding in Intervale, New Hampshire, was the latter.

They rented an Airbnb tucked into the White Mountains, surrounded themselves with their closest friends and family, and created a day centered around one thing: bringing their families together. With seven kids between them, there was no shortage of personality, laughter, and sweet little moments throughout the day. And honestly? These two are ridiculously fun. I know I say that about my couples a lot, but these two genuinely brought the good stuff.

And then there were the details.

The ring boxes. The signs. The thoughtful little touches scattered throughout the house. Everything was beautifully intentional without feeling overly fussy. It was the kind of wedding where every detail had a reason for being there.

It Started With a Smile at Preschool

Jessica and Ed's story actually started at their daughter's preschool.

Jessica noticed Ed one morning walking in. When she came back out, he smiled at her and apparently her knees decided they were no longer interested in supporting her.

She started seeing him around drop-off and began to suspect that maybe he was timing his mornings to coincide with hers.

Spoiler alert: he was.

Eventually, Jessica decided she couldn't risk never seeing him again. So she wrote her number on a business card, added a smiley face, and handed it to him.

Then she immediately panicked.

She called her mom and announced that if he didn't text her, she was sending her daughter to school in a taxi from then on.

Fortunately for everyone involved, Ed texted.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

A Proposal in Hawaii

Ed proposed on their first full day in Oahu, Hawaii, during lunch at the Hard Rock Café.

And he did it right in front of all the kids.

Who, naturally, all knew it was coming except Jessica.

Ed took Jessica's hand under the table and started sliding the ring onto her finger. She was so shocked that she didn't even immediately say yes. She just sat there in complete disbelief while her brain tried to catch up with what was happening.

Eventually it did.

Then came the freaking out.

In the best possible way.

Getting Ready With the Girls

The wedding morning was relaxed and incredibly personal.

Jessica got ready upstairs surrounded by all the girls. Her oldest daughter did her hair and makeup, while the rest helped her into her dress and shoes.

It was such a beautiful full-circle moment. Rather than getting ready surrounded by a room full of vendors and a massive wedding party, Jessica was surrounded by the women and girls who actually mattered most to her.

And then came the presents from Ed.

He gave Jessica a gorgeous diamond bracelet and a compass.

The bracelet was beautiful, but the compass carried so much meaning for her. Watching Jessica open those gifts while her youngest daughter stood around her made the entire moment even more special.

Downstairs, Ed was getting ready with his son Noah.

He had written Noah a letter telling him just how much he meant to him. He also gave him a watch, something Noah can keep forever and hopefully one day pass down.

These are the moments I love most at weddings.

They're not necessarily the things that end up on a traditional shot list. They're the little pieces of a family becoming one.

The First Look

Then came the first look.

And Ed's face said everything.

He was completely blown away when he saw Jessica.

And I can't blame him.

Jessica's dress had this beautiful vintage feel, with gorgeous lace and an old-school elegance that fit her perfectly. It was romantic without being over the top, and it looked absolutely incredible against the White Mountain backdrop.

A Ceremony About Family

Jessica's best friend performed their ceremony, which made the whole thing feel even more personal.

Their vows were incredible.

They talked about how they met, the trips they've taken together, and the life they've built. But more than anything, their ceremony reflected what this wedding was really about: bringing two families together and celebrating the people they love.

There wasn't a need for a huge guest list or a massive production.

Just their closest people.

Seven kids.

A handful of family and friends.

And two people who were pretty damn happy to finally be standing there together.

The Details Were Everything

One of my favorite things about this wedding was how much thought Jessica and Ed put into the details.

The ring boxes. The signs. The little pieces throughout the Airbnb.

Everything felt intentional.

And because the wedding was small, those details didn't get lost in a sea of stuff. They became part of the story of the day.

This is one of my favorite things about intimate weddings. You can really slow down and notice the details. The things you picked because they meant something to you, not because Pinterest told you that you needed them.

Mountain Views, Rocky Paths & Doing Things a Little Differently

After the ceremony, we headed out for portraits.

Obviously, we had to take advantage of those White Mountain views.

We also used the rocky path behind the house for some more relaxed portraits. Jessica and Ed were completely themselves together, which made my job ridiculously easy.

And then, because I'm me, we went back inside.

Because why stop at the obvious portraits?

The Airbnb gave us some really cool opportunities to create something a little more cinematic and different. We used the architecture, the shadows, the windows, and the darker spaces inside the house to create portraits that felt completely different from the mountain images.

And that's exactly why I love shooting weddings like this.

Give me a couple who trusts me, an interesting house, some good light, and a little time to play and I'm a happy photographer.

A Wedding That Was Completely Them

Jessica and Ed didn't need a huge wedding to make their day feel important.

They needed their people.

They needed their kids.

They needed a place that felt comfortable and beautiful.

And they needed a day that allowed them to actually enjoy being married instead of spending the entire thing worrying about keeping up with a schedule.

They got exactly that.

An intimate wedding in the White Mountains. Seven kids who were woven into the day in meaningful ways. Thoughtful details. Emotional surprises. Beautiful views. A vintage-inspired dress. A ceremony performed by a best friend.

And a whole lot of laughter.
