Katie & Win | An Intimate Blind Tiger Wedding in Portland, Maine

Some couples have a story that starts in the most unexpected places. For Katie and Win, it all began on a hard-hat tour in Memphis, Tennessee.

As Katie joked, "Nothing says romance like a neon orange vest."

Who knew a construction site would be the beginning of forever?

When it came time to propose, Win wanted it to be deeply personal. He chose Cedar Lane Farm, a place that had already become incredibly meaningful to their relationship. He got down on one knee beside his mother's headstone, knowing she would have wanted nothing more than to be part of one of the biggest moments of his life. It was heartfelt, emotional, and the perfect reflection of the love these two share.

A Snowy Engagement Session at Fort Williams

Months before the wedding, we met up at Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth for their engagement session. It was one of those classic Maine winter days with fresh snow covering everything, and these two absolutely embraced it.

Being from Tennessee, I wasn't sure how they'd feel about standing outside in the cold for photos, but they never complained once. The snow, the lighthouse, and the quiet winter scenery made for the perfect backdrop, and it gave us a chance to get to know each other before the wedding day.

A Hidden Gem: Blind Tiger in Portland, Maine

Their wedding took place at the Blind Tiger in Portland, Maine, and if you've never been there, it's such a cool venue. It's intimate without feeling cramped, full of character, and has the kind of historic charm that makes every corner worth photographing. It's the perfect location for couples planning a smaller wedding who still want a venue with plenty of personality.

Katie spent the morning getting ready in one of the beautiful guest rooms with her mom helping her into her dress and fastening her jewelry. It was relaxed, emotional, and exactly how a wedding morning should feel.

Meanwhile, Win and the guys got ready at a nearby hotel, giving Katie some space before the ceremony.

One of the Best First Look Pranks Ever

Before seeing Win, Katie shared a sweet first look with her dad. It was one of those quiet moments that says everything without needing many words.

Then it was time for the first look with Win.

I arrived at the chapel before he did, completely in on the joke.

What Win didn't know was that Katie wasn't going to be the first person tapping him on the shoulder.

His brother stepped in instead.

Watching Win turn around expecting his bride only to find his brother standing there was absolutely priceless. They both burst out laughing before we reset everything and got him back into position.

Round two.

This time Katie walked up behind him.

The laughter quickly turned into tears.

The second Win turned around and saw her, the emotion hit him immediately. You could see just how much these two love each other. It was one of those moments that reminds you why first looks are so special.

A Ceremony Full of Heart

Their ceremony was simple, intimate, and incredibly meaningful.

Katie and Win wrote their own vows, making every word feel personal and genuine. Surrounded by the people who matter most, it wasn't about putting on a production. It was simply about celebrating the beginning of their marriage.

Sometimes the smallest weddings end up feeling the biggest.

Portraits Filled With Laughter

After dinner, we snuck out to the gardens behind the Blind Tiger for portraits.

These two never stopped laughing.

At one point I had them do an over-the-top "Baywatch" run, and they completely committed to it. Watching them slow motion sprint through the garden trying to keep straight faces was absolutely hilarious and made for some of my favorite images of the day.

From there, we headed downstairs to the basement where the vintage pool table made the perfect backdrop for a few moodier portraits. It fit the character of the venue perfectly and was a fun way to create something a little different before heading back upstairs.

Dancing the Night Away

Back upstairs, Katie and Win opened the dance floor with their first dance, followed by the parent dances.

Then the formalities were over.

The music turned up, everyone relaxed, and the rest of the night was exactly what a wedding reception should be, friends and family laughing, dancing, and celebrating together.

One of my favorite things about this wedding wasn't just the beautiful venue or the heartfelt moments. It was how obvious it was that Katie and Win are surrounded by people who genuinely love and support them. Every interaction throughout the day reflected that.
