Maine & NH Wedding Photographer | What I Learned Shooting Weddings This Year

Every year behind the camera teaches me something new — sometimes about photography, sometimes about patience, and sometimes about the importance of having backup gear for your backup gear. (Looking at you, camera that decided to die mid-family formals.)

This year, I really focused on giving my couples the best support possible — not just showing up with my camera, but showing up as a calm, collected, chaos-taming professional. I spent more time helping my couples plan, prepping timelines, and guiding them through all the pre-wedding chaos. And honestly? It paid off. This has been my best year yet — amazing clients, (almost) flawless timelines, and a whole lot of love stories that I’ll be thinking about for a long time.

I also pushed myself creatively — I wanted to make images that weren’t just pretty, but cinematic and emotional. The kind of photos that make you stop scrolling and just feel something. It meant stepping outside my comfort zone, playing with light in new ways, and leaning hard into the dark and moody storytelling that I love so much.

And let’s be real — weddings aren’t always sunshine and champagne. Sometimes, I’m part photographer, part peacekeeper, navigating family dynamics that could rival a daytime soap. But helping my couples work through those moments so their day stays stress-free? 100% worth it every single time.

As I wrap up the season, I’m heading into the slower months feeling grateful, inspired, and already itching to shoot again. (After a solid nap and maybe a gallon of coffee, of course.)
