Maine & NH Engagement Session // Rain, Rain… Then Champagne & a Rainbow – Morgan & Dan’s Foss Mountain Session

Let me set the scene for you: I’m driving toward Foss Mountain with windshield wipers working overtime, whispering sweet nothings to the weather app like, “You said it’d stop by 2, don’t play me now.” Spoiler alert: it did not stop by 2. In fact, it was still going strong as I made my way to the trailhead, trying not to spiral into panic mode about dragging an adorable couple up a mountain in what felt like a light pressure washer.

But Morgan and Dan? Total troopers. Dan was out here radiating the kind of blind optimism that belongs on motivational posters—like, “It’s clearing! I can feel it!” Meanwhile, Morgan and I exchanged nervous side-eyes like, “Can he feel the radar too?”

We started the small hike up to the Eagle’s Nest, and as if Dan summoned the weather gods himself, the rain actually stopped right as we hit the top. We looked out over the hills and saw it—clearing skies off in the distance. Game on.

We started shooting, and not even 10 minutes later, the freakin’ sun busted through the clouds like it had just clocked into work. Boom. Golden light. The good stuff. That dreamy, soft glow that makes everyone look amazing.

Morgan and Dan? Absolute naturals. They were goofy, comfortable, totally into each other, and they laughed like nobody was watching—except, ya know, me with a camera in their faces. There was this super sweet, kind of silly bond between them that made my job stupid easy. They danced, spun around, made each other snort-laugh—it was a full-on vibe.

Then came the champagne. Not just any champagne. Walgreens champagne. Yes, you read that right. Dan had decided “let’s celebrate our love with this $8 bottle from aisle 9,” and I respect the hell out of it. Morgan popped it with some flair, and they clinked the their cups with the biggest grins. It was hilarious and perfect.

And just when I thought the universe had shown off enough for one night, a rainbow appeared. An actual, rainbow, stretching across the sky like it was the grand finale to this already ridiculous weather rollercoaster.

We shot some more (because how do you not shoot with a rainbow??), and then we made our way back down the trail. As we reached the cars? Yup. Rain again. Like nature just wanted to wait until we were done being fabulous before it turned the faucet back on.

It. Could. Not. Have. Been. Better.

Morgan and Dan’s session was the perfect reminder that sometimes the best moments come from a little chaos. A little rain. A little Walgreens bubbly. And a whole lot of love and laughter.
