Maine & New Hampshire Family Photographer //Not Your Grandma’s Family Photos: How I Do Family Sessions Around Here

Alright, let’s be real for a sec — if you’re picturing family photos where everyone’s stiff as a board, fake smiling in matching white shirts and jeans (probably barefoot, standing awkwardly on a beach)… I’m gonna need you to go ahead and throw that image right in the trash.

That is not how we do things around here.

My family sessions? They’re more like playtime with a side of photography. I’m not out here barking orders or telling your toddler to “say cheese.” (Spoiler: no toddler has ever enjoyed that.) Instead, I give your kids stuff to do — run, jump, snuggle, pick wildflowers, play tag with Dad, climb all over Mom. Basically, whatever keeps them happy and moving and being their goofy, chaotic selves.

Because let’s face it — when kids are having fun, everyone looks better. Their real personalities come out, their giggles are 100% genuine, and you get to relax instead of threatening to take away snacks if they don’t behave.

No stiff poses. No fake smiles. Just real life — the good, the messy, and the in-between.

I’m not here for “picture perfect.” I’m here for your version of perfect — which usually looks like windblown hair, grass-stained knees, and that one moment where your kid wraps their arms around your neck outta nowhere and says, “I love you.”

You can’t pose that. You can’t stage that. But you can remember it forever when you’ve got someone documenting it the right way.

So if you’re looking for a family session that feels more like an adventure than a chore — where your kids can be kids, you don’t have to stress, and the photos actually feel like you — we should probably chat.

Because I promise: this isn’t your grandma’s family photo session.
(Though your grandma might still cry happy tears when she sees the pics.)
