Maine & New Hampshire Family Photographer // How Long Will This Take and Will My Kid Cry?

(Spoiler: Probably. It's Okay.)

Let’s cut to the chase—family sessions with me don’t last more than an hour. Why? Because by the 45-minute mark, the camera starts to feel like a third wheel, the bugs are acting like they paid admission, and everyone’s thinking about snacks. And let’s be honest—adults are usually more over it than the kids.

But here’s the good news: an hour is plenty. We’re not aiming for stiff, posed perfection—we’re after connection, real moments, and a little bit of chaos (the good kind). We’ll get the laughs, the snuggles, the running wild, and everything in between.

Now let’s talk about that thing most parents stress about:
“What if my kid cries or just doesn’t listen?”
Hey, it happens. They’re little. The world is big. Sometimes I show up and they’re like, “Who is this tattooed lady with the camera?” But I swear, I’m pretty fun. I’ve got the patience of a saint and the humor of a middle schooler, and once your kid realizes I’m not here to boss them around, we usually become buds. It might take a second, but they always warm up.

Worried about a shy kid? Let’s shoot somewhere they feel totally at ease. I travel up to an hour from Cornish, Maine, so the options are wide open. Your backyard? A favorite park? That trail you always explore after dinner? Let’s do it. When kids feel comfortable, they shine—and that’s what I want to capture.

So yeah, your kid might cry. The adults might start dreaming of margaritas around the 42-minute mark. But we’ll still get the good stuff. The real stuff. And you’ll be glad you didn’t cancel when your toddler refused socks that morning.
