Maine & New Hampshire Wedding Photographer // Blending In Like a Boss (Sociable But Awkward is my Secret Weapon)
You know what I hear all the time at weddings?
"If you weren’t carrying around those big cameras, I’d thought you were a guest!"
That right there? Music to my weird little ears.
Because sure, I’m the wedding photographer. I’m there to capture every big moment and all the in-betweens. But I’m also quietly blending into your family like I’ve been there for years. Laughing with your dad. Sneaking a granola bar to your niece. Joking with your bridesmaids. You know…. the usual.
And here’s my secret: I’m sociable as hell, but also kind of awkward.
Like, I will absolutely ask your grandma how she met her husband and cry halfway through the story, but also trip over my own feet right after. I’m not intimidating. I’m not trying to be cool. I’m just being me and I think that makes people feel safe.
That “comfort” thing? It matters. Because when people feel like they can be themselves around me, that’s when the real stuff happens. The real smiles. The genuine interactions. The laughter that doesn’t feel posed or planned. You don’t get that from someone who feels like a stranger in the room.
I’m not there to boss people around or be some mysterious photo ninja in the corner. I’ll get in there, learn names, joke with your friends, help zip a dress, fix a boutonnière, and do it all while still being a fly on the wall when I need to be.
By the end of the day, I’m just another person who cheered you on, wiped your lipstick off your teeth, and somehow knew the inside jokes plus I got the photos to prove it.
That’s the vibe.
