Maine & New Hampshire Wedding Photographer // Emma + Nick Engagement Session in the Old Port
Let’s talk about Emma and Nick’s engagement session in Portland’s Old Port—a chaotic little lovefest on cobblestones. We kicked things off on the always busy Wharf Street. Yep, the street where every bachelorette party, patio margarita, and lobster roll-loving tourist seemed to be that day. But honestly? The buzz made it even better. I live for that old brick, worn-down cobblestone, narrow alleyway vibe, and these two fit right in—like a rom-com couple who accidentally wandered into a postcard.
Emma and Nick? Absolute goofballs in the best possible way. Their energy was infectious. They couldn’t stop laughing to each other. It was sweet, and perfect. These two didn’t need posing. They just needed room to be their ridiculous selves. My camera just had to keep up.
We roamed the streets, finding little slices of Portland charm in every direction. Brick walls, faded paint, oddly shaped windows, and every weird doorway we could find. We even hit up that tiny, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it beach at the end of a parking lot. You know the one. It’s not glamorous, but throw in the right couple? Boom. Perfection.
The best part was how every backdrop we used just highlighted how playful and connected they are. They didn’t just pose, they had fun. They leaned, whispered, made goofy faces and full-on giggled. It was pure personality and totally them.
The cool thing is this whole industrial/urban backdrop is gonna contrast so hard with their actual wedding day, which is going to be out in the woods by the ocean. Like, moody forest meets wild waves kind of vibes. So this session? Total visual curveball. In the best way.
And of course, we had to end right back where we started on Wharf Street. Only now, the lights had come on, the crowd had thinned, and the whole alley was glowing with that perfect mix of romance and bar-hopping chaos. We finished with a kiss lit by streetlights and surrounded by the warm hum of downtown nightlife.
Emma and Nick, you absolute goofballs—I adore you. Thanks for making downtown Portland your playground.
Want an engagement session that feels like you—whether that’s in the middle of the city or deep in the woods? Hit me up. I’ve got a camera, jokes, and an unhealthy obsession with good lighting. Let’s do this.
