Maine & NH Family Photographer // Hey Parents—Get in the Photos
Let me say this louder for the folks in the back: your kids don’t care what you look like. They’re not judging your under-eye bags, or the fact that your shirt has some sort of weird smear on it (which, let’s be honest, is probably applesauce or tears—or both). What they will care about? That you’re there. In the frame. Holding them. Laughing with them. Existing with them.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had parents—especially moms—say something like,
“Oh, just focus on the kids. I don’t need to be in any.”
Girl. Stop. Yes, you do.
Let me be real with you:
These photos aren’t just for you now. They’re for your kids later. They’re gonna look back at these images when they’re older and see how fiercely they were loved. They’re going to see you—not a perfectly posed Pinterest version, but their real-deal, messy-bun, laugh-so-hard-you-squint hero.
You don’t have to be “photo ready.”
You just have to be present.
And trust me, I got you. I’ll help you with poses that don’t feel awkward. I’ll tell you where to put your hands (because somehow that becomes so confusing in photos, right?). I’ll catch the way your kiddo reaches for your face, the way your partner looks at you when you’re not paying attention, the way your family fits together like only you can.
This isn’t about being picture perfect. This is about showing up. Existing in the memories. Leaving a visual legacy that says,
"I was there. I loved you more than anything. And here’s proof."
So next time you think, “Eh, I’ll just stay behind the camera,”
nah. Come stand in front of it with your chaos crew.
You belong in the frame, too.
