Maine & NH Wedding Photographer //A Day in the Life of a Full-Time Wedding Photographer (When I’m Not Shooting)
When people hear I’m a full-time wedding photographer, they probably imagine me spending every day in some kind of artsy whirlwind, jetting off to venues, snapping epic portraits, or sipping espresso in a Paris café editing photos with moody vibes.
Reality check: my life is way less glamorous… and I like it that way.
Here’s what a “normal” day looks like when I’m not behind the camera.
Morning Chaos (aka Mom Mode)
The day starts with coffee (lots of it) and getting my boys out the door for school. No TikTok synchronized dance video morning routine here, just caffeine, backpacks, and me making sure everyone actually is wearing clothes before they get in the car.
Weights Over Wedding Dresses
Once the kids are kicked out of the car at their school, I hit the gym in my basement. Lifting weights and running have become my therapy. They keep me sane, help me sleep, and basically keep me from turning into a cranky gremlin by mid-afternoon. Some people journal, some meditate. I deadlift.
Otis: My Real Assistant
Back home, I hang out with my dog, Otis. He’s basically my coworker and lunch buddy. Honestly, he’s my favorite family member (don’t tell the others). He supervises while I blog, edit, or catch up on emails, which usually means snoring next to me and begging for snacks.
The Glamorous World of Editing
Most of my “work” time is spent at my computer. Editing photos, designing albums, blogging weddings, and keeping up with the business side of things. It’s not wild or flashy, but it’s the backbone of what makes your wedding gallery come together seamlessly.
Afternoon Shuffle
Once school’s out, it’s back to mom mode—pickups, homework help, and shuttling the boys to whatever activity is on the calendar. Jujitsu, Muay Thai, you name it. Basically, I trade my camera bag for being an Uber.
Why I Love the Routine
Here’s the truth: my life isn’t chaotic or rockstar-level exciting. It’s steady, grounded, and gives me the balance I need to show up 100% for my couples. The gym resets me. My family keeps me centered. Otis makes sure I never eat lunch alone.
So when your wedding day comes around, I’m ready with the energy, focus, and creativity to make your photos as badass as they deserve to be.
✨ Final thought: My life off-camera might be simple, but that’s exactly what lets me pour everything I’ve got into the work I do behind the camera. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it.
