Maine & NH Wedding Photographer | Margot + Adam | Squam Lake Wedding
Margot and Adam’s wedding at her family’s house on Squam Lake? Absolute banger of a day. The weather was that sweet spot, slightly overcast, not hot, no one melting through their fancy clothes. My kind of setup.
And honestly, the vibe was just right. Squam Lake isn’t just pretty, it’s meaningful. Margot grew up there, so hosting their wedding lakeside was basically the ultimate full-circle flex. Guests showed up to this tucked-away slice of New Hampshire heaven that felt both laid-back and insanely special, kinda like Margot and Adam themselves.
But before we get into the wedding chaos, let’s rewind. These two didn’t meet on a dating app or at a bar. Nope. They met while earning their Master’s in Landscape Architecture at the University of Washington. And then fate decided to toss them a grant that not only had them writing a research publication together but also sent them to live in Copenhagen for six months. Same house. Same bikes. Same sketchbooks. You can connect the dots. Basically, they went from “too shy to hang out in Seattle” to “we live together in Europe now.” Bold move, Universe.
Fast forward six years, and Adam sealed the deal in Wyoming’s Snowy Mountain Range. Picture this: they’re backpacking (as one does when you’re cool, outdoorsy, and don’t mind smelling like campfire). Adam proposes on a hill before dinner with sweeping mountain views. Totally caught Margot off guard. Bonus points, friends were there to snap pictures. Pretty damn perfect.
Now, back to Squam Lake. The day kicked off with pure teamwork. Both families are farmers, and they grew all the wedding flowers themselves. Like, acres of dedication. I’ve never seen so much sweat equity go into wedding florals, seriously, florists everywhere would’ve tipped their hats. Everyone was hustling outside while the girls got their glam on inside. The guys? Doing what guys do best—screwing around.
Margot slipped into her dress, and suddenly it was go time. She and Adam did their first look, but here’s the twist, they recited their vows right then and there. Private, sweet, tear-jerker level 100. Easily one of the most heartfelt moments of the whole day.
The ceremony followed, officiated by Adam’s grandfather, who nailed it. He told stories of Adam growing up, and honestly, everyone was misty-eyed. After the official “I do’s,” it was straight into the first dance and parent dances, all happening under white lanterns with golden light pouring in. And listen, when the light hits just right like that? Pure photographer catnip.
Then came the toasts. Sweet, funny, sentimental—basically the perfect mix. Afterward, I dragged Margot and Adam away from the happy chaos for portraits. Nothing stiff or staged, just them laughing, walking, being themselves. Easily some of my favorite shots.
The night wrapped with dancing, cake cutting, and everyone fully leaning into the celebration.
Margot and Adam, you two crushed it. A wedding on the lake, flowers straight from your family farms, golden hour dances, and a killer love story to back it all up? That’s what I call badass.
