Maine & New Hampshire Elopement Photographer | Chelsea & Brendan | White Mountain Elopement
Chelsea and Brendan’s elopement in Jefferson, NH was one of those days that reminds me why elopements in the White Mountains just hit different. We kicked things off at their Airbnb, tucked right into the heart of the mountains. It was -3° outside (yes, negative, because New Hampshire in January), the sun was out, and the views were straight-up perfect.
Inside though? Cozy chaos in the best way. It was just Chelsea, Brendan, her son, and her aunt and uncle. No big crowd. No pressure. Just laughter, nerves, and that quiet excitement that fills a room when something really good is about to happen.
One of my favorite moments right away: Brendan helping Chelsea into her dress. Calm, sweet, zero rushing. Then he got himself into his suit, and we headed downstairs where he helped Chelsea’s son with his suit—which honestly set the tone for the whole day. Family-first, no fluff. Boutonnière went on next, everyone took a breath, and then… straight outside.
Yes. Outside. On the deck. In -3° weather.
Chelsea’s uncle officiated a short but incredibly emotional ceremony. Vows were said, tears were shed (by basically everyone), and we all collectively froze. It was perfect. We were cold. We were emotional. We were thriving.
After the ceremony, we piled into the cars and headed deeper into the White Mountains. And because the mountains love to humble you, the temperature dropped even more and the wind decided to fully commit. We stopped at Willey House and jumped into portraits, but short bursts only. About five minutes per set before sprinting back to the car like our lives depended on it (they kind of did).
None of the ski resorts were even open, which honestly just added to the adventure. No traffic. No distractions. Just mountains, wind, and a couple who was fully down for whatever the day threw at them.
Was it brutally cold? Yes.
Did we warm up in the car between every set? Absolutely.
Was it an incredible day? 100%.
Chelsea and Brendan’s elopement was proof that you don’t need perfect conditions, you just need the right people, a killer view, and a willingness to laugh while your eyelashes freeze together. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
