Maine & New Hampshire Wedding Photographer | Kat & J’s Old Port Engagement Session | Portland, Maine
Some stories start with a meet-cute in a coffee shop or a random swipe right — Kat and J’s started at work. Just two people crossing paths daily until one day… bam, it clicked. Fast forward to J popping the question on the porch of Kat’s favorite place, asking her if she’d consider spending the rest of her life with him. Spoiler: she said yes.
We kicked off their engagement session right where it all began — Commercial Street in Portland’s Old Port. The goal? Blend romance with a cinematic edge because J, being a photographer himself, wanted a bit of that moody movie feel. Challenge accepted.
We wandered through the narrow streets, taking in the city’s texture — the old brick buildings, the uneven cobblestone, those colorful doors that add so much character to Portland. I framed them up against all the architectural goodness, playing with lines, reflections, and that soft, overcast light that makes everything feel like a scene from a film.
As the sun dipped, we pulled out some lights to really crank up the drama. Wharf Street gave us that perfect ending — the glow of street lamps, the warm tones of brick, and that cinematic atmosphere that felt straight out of a movie poster.
Kat and J were absolute naturals — laughing, teasing, and keeping things fun the whole way through. The kind of couple that reminds you why photographing love stories never gets old.
